RESUMIX and other
Electronic Federal Applications
What are Online Applications?
Resumix:
Many announcements for Federal Government positions require on-line
applications, resume builders, or RESUMIX formats which are scanned into
computer databases. These on-line formats can be very restricting,
and if you are not computer-savvy, can also be very difficult
to do correctly - and if not done correctly, your application
will be rejected. 21st Century Resumes has personnel who are experts
in the requirements of how to apply for these positions. Let
our experts help you through this process to successfully apply
for these positions.

On-line
resumes and applications are searched electronically for the key words
required for the position. If you do not include the right keywords,
your resume will not be one of those selected for further review
by the hiring authority. Once your resume is selected electronically,
it is then reviewed by the hiring authority manually - and compared
to all the others that were selected. Therefore, it is important
that the resume include all relevant keywords AND
read well. The restrictive nature of many of the on-line formats
(limited length for describing jobs and experience) makes this
difficult. The more restrictive, the more difficult this is.
This is where 21st Century Resumes' experience can help. Call
us today at (800) 471-9201 for a free consultation.
"For two years I have been trying
to get accepted in the Government Service. After your company
developed my Resumix, I submitted it to the Department of the
Army and was immediately selected for a GS-12 position. I will
gladly recommend your services to anyone needing a professionally
written resume. Thank you so much!"

What are Online Application
Formats?
Some of the
agencies that require many (if not most) applicants to use online
formats are:
- US Army
The Army RESUMIX format is a highly restrictive 3-page
format. Resumes can be posted online using the Army Resume Builder.
In this format you also must include answers to all the KSA questions
in the RESUMIX - they are not separate answers. Sometimes, for
higher level positions, the Army RESUMIX is not used for Army
positions, but the RESUMIX format seems to be used for most Army
job postings.
- US Navy
The Navy RESUMIX format is less restrictive than the Army
format, Navy RESUMIX allows 5 pages. In this format you also
must include answers to all the KSA questions in the RESUMIX
- they are not separate answers. Like the Army format, the Navy
RESUMIX format is used for most, but not all Navy postings.
- US Air Force
The Air Force RESUMIX format is also 5 pages, but has
different requirements than the Navy format. In this format you
also must include answers to all the KSA questions in the RESUMIX
- they are not separate answers. This format is used for only
some positions, generally those serviced by Randolph Air Force
Base. Most positions handled through Warner Robins Air Force
Base and higher level Air Force positions still use a regular
Federal resume format.
- US Coast Guard
The US Coast Guard uses Avue Digital Services to produce
online resumes. This format is not as limiting as the Army, Navy,
or Air Force formats. KSAs are answered separately - up to 3000
characters each, in this format. Also, you will need to post
a word version of your Federal resume and KSAs.
- US Department of Commerce
The US Department of Commerce uses Commerce Opportunities
On-Line for some of their job openings. This system allows up
to 8 jobs to be entered, and will sometimes ask a series of questions.
The format allows up to 8 jobs. You can cut and paste from the
Federal Resume format to prepare these pages.
Other agencies
have different online formats, including the FAA, FBI, and DIA.
The US Post Office has its own format. We stay current on formats,
and know how to research new requirements (they are constantly
changing). If you need assistance to figure out how to apply,
we can help you through this myriad of conflicting requirements.
