NOTICE: As of 10/1/2011 Navy CHART is no longer in use. Department of Navy job announcements will be found on USAJOBS.

Navy CHART
resumix format is used by some announcements for Federal Government positions and like the other federal job formats, Navy CHARTS has its own limitations and requirements. That means your materials must meet the CHARTS required format and keywords criteria to be considered. Navy CHARTS supports thousands of job applications for a variety of Department of the Navy job openings.

Online formats are very restrictive and each one has different format requirements. If you are not computer literate, they can also be very difficult to complete correctly. If not done correctly with the required format and size restrictions in mind, your application may end up being automatically rejected. You need to tell your story in a specific way - one that is acceptable to the computer screening system as well as the hiring manager.

With so many applicants for each federal job, here are some important details to understand before you begin the process of submitting a Navy CHARTS resumix format application.

  • Register an account with https://chart.donhr.navy.mil/ to get started.
  • Unlike other formats, Navy CHARTS leads off with education background, then goes into work history.
  • The input format is going to be in a plain layout without caps, italics, or any design characteristics like you might see with a regular resume.
  • Pay strict attention to character counts in each section. MS Word may not be completely accurate in the character count. INCLUDE SPACES in the count..
  • Each job history segment allows for 7,500 characters and spaces which is more generous than other formats - more than double USAJOBS.
  • Professional training section gives you 5,000 total characters. The section for professional licenses and certificates gives just 1,500 characters.
  • The additional information section, where you get to tell about your professional summary, awards, areas of expertise, and more allows for 7,000 characters which may require some heavy editing to fit.

Beware of possible system timeouts so you don't lose your information. It's much more efficient to have all of your information prepared in such as way that you can simply copy and paste the relevant sections as needed. That's how we prepare your materials - with copy and paste simplicity.

The input format for Navy CHARTS allows no style features as you might see on a regular resume. There are ways to effectively highlight important information and when you let us prepare your CHARTS Resumix, everything will be formatted with highlights and proper format in mind.

Navy CHARTS is a great example of a federal input format that's just very different from the others - making it tough to share information from one system to another.
